A couple of weeks back, I published a post on urban photography, a genre I recently discovered and liked as it is closely related to street photography. So, when I went through my photos I recovered and re-discovered recently, I saw a couple of nice shots of business district architecture during a trip to Coastal California in 2015. Converting them to monochrome and strengthening the contrasts (along with some other minor adjustments in Lightroom) really added something quite dramatic and powerful to the images. 

The first picture below was taken from the Coit Tower in San Francisco, which provides a stunning view of the city’s skyline and recompensates any waiting time or effort on climbing up the hill and the tower. I remember that I used this photo as my wallpaper on the computer for quite a long time. However, converting the picture to a contrasty black and white image gave me a new angle on the photo.

In this first photo, you can see the well-known Transamerica Pyramid, a building by William Pereir, who mixed futurism and Egyptian antique. When we went back down to downtown, I was able to take another picture of the same building.

And finally, here is a third picture and, unfortunately, I cannot recall, where I took it. My organization of photo files was quite messy back in 2015. However, I really like the dramatic view up and the strong contrasts.

I will probably continue going through my old material as it is fun to look at the photos from a new angle. Hopefully, I will as well have some new pictures soon to share.
